Terms

The rules, such as they are.

Last updated 5 November 2026. Short, because there is not much to say.

What this is

Mac for Newbies is a free educational website published by Digital High Status. Using it means you are fine with what is on this page.

It is free, and it stays free

All hundred lessons are free to read and use, for any individual, personally or at work. We are not going to put them behind a wall later. If that ever changed, anything already published would stay open.

A company that wants its own version of the course, branded or adapted to its own setup, is a separate arrangement. Ask us.

Use it, share it, do not repackage it

Read it, follow it, send it to anyone. What we ask is that you do not copy the lessons wholesale onto another site, republish them as your own, or sell them. Quoting a bit with a link back is welcome and always will be.

No warranty, and a bit of common sense

The instructions are written carefully and checked, but Apple changes macOS and things move. Everything here is provided as-is, with no guarantee that it is current or that it will work on your particular Mac.

Some later lessons involve installing third-party software, changing system settings, or using the command line. Those are your changes to make on your own machine. Read before you run things, and keep a backup. That is itself one of the lessons.

Third-party apps

The course names other people’s software. We are not responsible for it, we do not control it, and we earn nothing from recommending it. There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site. The one exception we own outright is ClipDrawer, made by the same studio, and that is disclosed everywhere it appears.

Not affiliated with Apple

Apple, Mac, macOS and Finder are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Mac for Newbies is an independent publication and is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Apple in any way.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Digital High Status is not liable for any loss arising from following the instructions on this site. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top will change when they are.
